A sequel to Mahi V Raghav’s Yatra, the film releases on February 8, 2024
Yatra 2, the sequel to Mahi V Raghav’s political drama Yatra (originally headlined by Mammootty), is gearing up to hit screens soon. While the first part centred on the life of politician YS Rajasekhar Reddy and his famous Pada Yatra, the second installment focuses on his son YS Jagan’s political journey and how he rose above challenging circumstances to become the CM of Andhra Pradesh in 2019.
Tamil actor Jiiva, son of leading producer RB Chowdary, has been roped in to reprise YS Jagan’s role in Yatra 2, while Mammootty plays his on-screen father. The film is gearing up for a release on February 8, 2024. Yatra 2 unfolds between 2009 and 2019. Commemorating the AP CM’s birthday, a new poster featuring Jiiva and Mammootty was released today.
Sporting Jagan’s trademark white shirt and a formal pant, Jiiva is introspective in a new poster shared by the makers. The poster is designed smartly to suggest that he’s following in the footsteps of Mammootty, a.k.a. YS Rajasekhar Reddy, who’s seated behind. Shiva Meka is bankrolling the ambitious project under V Celluloid in collaboration with Three Autumn Leaves.
Ketaki Narayan plays another key role. Santhosh Narayanan scores the music for the film, which has cinematography by Madhie. Mahi V Raghav, wishing YS Jagan on his birthday through the poster, wrote, “They thought it was his end, and he knew it was just the beginning! Wishing @ysjagan garu a very Happy birthday. Cant wait to tell your story to the world through our lens. #Yatra2 in cinemas from Feb 8, 2024.”
While stating his admiration for the politician, the director further added, “Rule 1 - A character is defined by what he does and not what he speaks. Rule 2 - A true test of a character is revealed in a crisis. Both of these rules apply not only in screen writing but even in real life. @ysjagan is born out of a crisis and lives by his actions, not words. Wish you a very happy birthday @ysjaganAnna.”
