The release day of Yatra 2, the Telugu political thriller, is finally upon us. As the film hit theatres today, Yatra 2 follows the events that unfold after the demise of YSR, how Jagan started 'Odarpu Yatra' to console those who were suffering following his father's death, and what adversaries he faced due to his decision.
While Malayalam star Mammootty reprises his role of YSR, actor Jiiva, who predominantly works in Tamil films, plays his son and current AP CM YS Jagan. With the film now running in theatres, social media users have taken it to their handles to review the film.
One social media user said on X (formerly Twitter) that giving ratings to Yatra 2 is “difficult” and added that it is “brilliant film for YSRCP fans” while it is an “headache for opposition party fans”. He also praised Jiiva’s portrayal of Jagan in the film and appreciated the songs.
“A Mahi V Raghav's Master piece. The greatest biopic ever made for any political leader in India hope you'll recreate this magic again,” another user wrote.
“As expected the screenplay and emotions are high level. Thanks anna @MahiVraghav for showing a daring and dynamic leader biopic,” one person wrote.
On the other hand, a small section of people did not receive the film well, resulting in the much-anticipated political divide the film’s subject matter rests upon. Social media users have been trolling the film, suggesting that the film will be a failure. "Negitive:- Jagan characterisation Whole story is not real Positive:- Jagan in jail is realistic,” a social media user wrote.
Yatra 2 is directed by Mahi V Raghav and second installment of the Mammootty-starrer 2019 political drama Yatra. The first part was about YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s political journey, while the second part will see Jiiva play the role of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his rise to becoming the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. The film also stars Mahesh Manjrekar, who plays Chandrababu Naidu; Suzanne Bernard as Sonia Gandhi; and Ketaki Narayanan as YS Bharath.
The camera is cranked by Madhie, while Santosh Narayanan scores the music for Yatra 2. The film is bankrolled by Shiva Meka under the V Celluloid and Three Autumn Leaves banners.
