Popular OTT platform Amazon Prime Videos has inked a multi-year deal with Inkblot Studios, the frontline production company in Africa. The company has been the backhand in producing some of Nigeria’s biggest box office hits.
The pact is the first licensing agreement of the streaming platform with an African company. It will allow Prime to have exclusive global rights for the Inkblot slate of releases, after their theatrical runs.
The already confirmed list includes Inkblot’s The Set Up 2, Moms at War 2, and New Money 3. It also has new titles such as Charge and Bail, Superstar and The Blood Covenant.
Inkblot has been in business since 2011 after it was founded by Chinaza Onuzo, Zulumoke Oyibo and Damola Ademola. Soon, the company became the busiest in the local entertainment industry called Nollywood. It has had 16 theatrical releases to date, including the blockbusters The Wedding Party and The Wedding Party 2. The film has been the country’s highest second and third grossing films respectively.
Co-Founder Onuzo is all happy about the deal. He issued a statement mentioning how the studio aims to produce some of the biggest as well as creative originals in the industry, and how huge is the opportunity with Prime Video. He added his affirmation about Nigerian films having a global appeal and about the thrill of the team to work with the streaming giant.

Meanwhile, Prime Video's head of worldwide, major studio licensing strategy, Ayanna Lonian also talked about the new and exciting deal. The team believes the Nigerian stories to be thrilling and unique, which will surely be a treat to the wide range of audiences.
