Penn Badgley's Joe Goldberg has returned to New York City! Season five of You, the last, will premiere on Netflix, and it will feature Joe's full circle back in New York City. Since its 2018 debut, the show has gone through quite a transformation. After its debut season on Lifetime, the psychological thriller made the jump to the OTT giant.

Renewal and delay of You Season 5

Netflix has not yet announced the premiere date for Season 5 of You. Earlier this year, in March 2023, Netflix ordered a fifth and final season of the show. As part of the renewal, Netflix revealed that Season 5 will likely drop in 2024. However, the simultaneous Hollywood strikes delayed most productions later in the year. Members of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA sought new arrangements with the AMPTP.

Production on You Season 5 will begin in the spring of 2024. Either late 2024 or 2025 can be the debut or final run of the series. Badgley's character, Joe Goldberg, will make a comeback for a second round. Not only will Joe's newest flame, Kate, be back, but so will Charlotte Ritchie.

Season 5 will see Joe finally meeting his in-laws, so brace yourself for more marital strife. Griffin Matthews will play Teddy Lockwood, who is Kate's brother. Anna Camp, who was in Pitch Perfect, will portray Joe's twin sisters-in-law, Reagan and Maddie Lockwood.

Cast and character additions for Season 5

Cast member Madeline Brewer, who starred in The Handmaid's Tale, will play Bronte, a "mysterious and free-spirited playwright who takes a job at Joe Goldberg's new bookstore." It's possible that Joe's latest fixation is on her. Where does Rhys stand? Ed Speleers had some thoughts about the return of Joe's serial killer persona.

Speleers expressed to TV Insider that they would really be thrilled if Rhys came back. At this time, though, nothing has materialised. Even though Rhys didn't engage in the end, she is grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow from the role. Once again, the actor feels incredibly fortunate and thankful to Netflix for providing her with that opportunity, as it allowed her to work in a different manner.

Speculation and hints for Season 5

Following the events of Season 4, Badgley had hoped for a concluding season. For the actor, the Season 4 finale felt like building towards one big giant hurrah, but he didn't know when asked about it by TV Insider. To what extent Rhys is involved, he is unsure. Whatever Rhys is and stands for, whether he is still alive or whether Joe has transformed into him, he does not know. After Joe fully accepts this aspect of his personality, what does it imply?

At Netflix's global fan event Tudum in June 2023, Padgley hinted at the final season, but there is no official teaser for it yet. The actor mentions in the video that Brazil, he has heard, is on the edge of their seats, waiting and theorising about the epic conclusion to You. Perhaps more crucially, the viewers are thinking about the obstacles that Joe will face upon his return to New York. Nobody knows who it is yet, but Joe's past is full of mysteries. They must be asking, "Who are you?"

Tati Gabrielle, Jenna Ortega, Dr. Nicky, Shalita Grant, and Travis Van Winkle—it is their moment to shine! Through the years, Joe's has claimed countless lives. In the final season, he'll definitely face some serious consequences.
