Zee5 bags the digital rights of these much-awaited Tamil films

With the surge in number of COVID-19 cases, the theatrical releases of a few Tamil movies have been postponed. With the state government having imposed a complete lockdown on Sundays, looks like more films will join the fray. However, that hasn't deterred the makers of a few much-awaited projects from signing a deal with digital platforms for their OTT releases. Check out a few Tamil movies that are expected to stream on Zee5 post their theatrical releases. 

Veeramae Vaagai Soodum

The Vishal-starrer directed by Thu Pa Saravanan will hit the screens on January 26 if the makers do not come up with a different plan. The action flick which has Dimple Hayathi playing the female lead is the actor-producer's theatrical release after an year. He was last seen in MS Anandan's Chakra.

Tamilarasan

Babu Yogeswaran's thriller film was initially announced as a theatrical release on January 26, but looks like the makers have reconsidered their decision. Vijay Antony plays the titular role in the movie which has Suresh Gopi and Sonu Sood essaying pivotal characters in it.   

Yaanai

This Arun Vijay-starrer, which has Hari at the helm, was said to be releasing in theatres on February, but looks like the current uncertainty is making the team waiting with regard to announcing the release date. Priya Bhavani Shankar essays the female lead in the movie, the shooting of which, was wrapped up recently.   

Valimai

The most anticipated movie of the year, starring Ajith in the lead, was supposed to release on January 13. But the makers announced an indefinite postponement a week before its release considering the restrictions government has imposed on night shows and Sundays. The action thriller is now being speculated as a March release. 

AK 61

The project which brings together Ajith, director Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor for the third time is expected to go on floors in March in Hyderabad. Their first collaboration, Nerkonda Paarvai, too, had a release on Zee5 after its theatrical release more than two years ago. Zee Studios is also said to be involved in the film's production. 

RC 15

The first two schedules of Shankar's magnum opus which has Ram Charan and Kiara Advani playing the lead roles were completed a while ago. The yet to be titled movie is expected to be a theatrical release next year. However, the makers are said to have sold the digital rights recently.
