Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2: Salaries of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan from original vs Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani from sequel revealed
The pay disparity Vidya Balan had spoken about is clear even today.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 to release in theatres tomorrow
Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani have stepped into the shoes of Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan from Bhool Bhulaiyaa, for the sequel of the film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The movie will release in theatres on May 20. Before that, here’s looking at the salaries that Akshay and Vidya were paid back in 2007 and what Kartik and Kiara are getting for the film today.
Kartik Aaryan paid lower than Akshay Kumar
Kartik Aaryan was paid Rs. 15 crores for his role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, according to a report on Bollywood Bubble. He plays the lead role of Ruhan Randhawa aka Rooh Baba in the film.
Akshay Kumar was paid at least Rs 5 crores more
By 2007, Akshay Kumar was already a superhit actor. He was on a streak with his films, when Bhool Bhulaiyaa came his way. Of course, the rest is history. According to reports on NewsBytesApp, the actor changed somewhere between Rs. 20-45 crores in 2007.
Kiara Advani gets a minimum sum
Kiara Advani, who plays the female lead of Reet Thakur, was reportedly paid Rs. 2 crores. She tries to reprise Vidya Balan’s Monjulika in the sequel.
Vidya Balan’s salary for the movie in 2007
There is no confirmation on how much Vidya Balan was paid in 2007. However, the actress had spoken about pay disparity (which is visible even now). Thus, it is safe to assume she was paid as much as Kiara for the film, if not lesser. In 2022, she reportedly charges Rs. 12 crores per project, which is still lesser than what Akshay took back in 2007.
Tabu gets the same pay
Tabu dabbles between the first and second female lead in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. However, that did not mean that she was paid higher than Kiara. The actress also received Rs. 2 crores for the project only.
Rajpal Yadav, who played Chote Pandit in Bhool Bhulaiyaa, is back for the sequel. His previous pay isn’t confirmed but this time he takes home Rs. 1.25 crores for the movie.
