The actor has been active in the film industry for more than two decades, with his films spanning across languages. The romantic drama focuses on the love story of Mughal emperor Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar, played by Hrithik Roshan, and the princess Jodhaa Bai, played by Aishwarya Rai. Sonu Sood plays the role of Jodhaa's (Aishwarya Rai) brother Sujamal Singh who tries to gain the seat of power. Dabangg is a 2010 action-comedy film. The film directed by Abhinav Singh Kashyap is produced by Malaika Arora and her Arbaaz Khan. The film features Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in leading roles.

The 2010 blockbuster also features Om Puri, Dimple Kapadia, Vinod Khanna, Anupam Kher, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Mahi Gill in supporting roles. The film revolves around the plotline of a love story that is brewing between Sona (Shruti Hassan) and Ram Kapoor, played by Girish Kumar. Sonu Sood is fitting in playing the role of the possessive big brother. His physical transformation with the mustache and the rural attire presented the actor in a different role than the otherwise action-filled villainous roles that he usually portrays. He is strict, loving, and considerate all the same time. The actor ushered in all these emotions through his body language and facial expressions. The film revolves around the relationship between Akhil Lokhande (Akshay Kumar) and the dog named Entertainment. The interesting plotline received mixed reviews from the critics but became a must-watch movie for all dog lovers.

Sonu Sood plays the criminal named Durva Yashwant Ranade. The plotline of the movie follows Sangram (Ranveer) fighting against Durva (Sonu) and trying to save the city from future criminal activities.
