In Pictures: Here are the Dhaakad actress Kangana Ranaut’s films that failed to leave a mark at the box office
Kangana Ranaut's latest film Dhaakad has performed badly at the box office.
Dhaakad, an action spy thriller, was released on May 27 in theatres with Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
While Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will eventually exceed the Rs. 100 crore mark, Kangana's Dhaakad may not even cross the Rs. 5 crore mark.
Kangana's ninth failure in a row is Dhakad. Her previous films, such as Thalaivii, Panga, Judgemental Hai Kya, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Simran, Rangoon, Katti Batti, and I Love NY, did not do well at the box office.
Take a look at this list of Kangana flicks that did not fare well in her Bollywood career:
Razneesh Ghai directed the spy thriller Dhaakad. Kangana Ranaut, Arjun Rampal, and Divya Dutta play major parts in this film. As this picture was running opposite Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, it had a poor opening. This will be Kangana's 9th flop.
Thalaivi is a 2021 Hindi biopic on politician Jayalalithaa. This film was directed by A.L. Vijay and starred Kangana Ranaut, Arvind Swami, and several others. The film was scheduled to be released in 2020, however it was delayed because of COVID. The film performed poorly at the box office, despite the fact that the actors' performances were appreciated, but the writing of the film was heavily criticised.
Ashwiny Lyer Tiwari directs Panga, a 2020 Hindi sports film. Kangana Ranaut, Jassi Gill, Richa Chadda, Yagya Bhasin, and many more star in the film. The plot revolves around how an old Kabaddi player tries to persuade her to return after a lengthy absence. The film did not perform well at the box office, but Kangana received a National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in it.
Judgementall Hai Kya
Judgementall Hai Kya Prakash Kovelamudi directed this black comedy movie. Rajkumar Rao and Kangana Ranaut play the major roles. Despite having an incredible cast, this 2019 picture was a box office failure.
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi
Manikarnika is a 2019 period film based on the life of Rani Lakshmi Bai. Krish Jagarlamudi and Kangana Ranaut directed the film. Kangana Ranaut plays the lead in this film, with Jisshu Sengupta, Ankita Lokhande, and others.
The picture did well at the box office, although it was just mediocre. Kangana received a National Award for Best Actress for her performance in this film.
Simran is a 2017 Bollywood drama film directed by Hansal Mehta and starring Kangana Ranaut. Despite Kangana's star power, the film's box office result was underwhelming.
Rangoon, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, is a 2017 historical war drama. Kangana Ranaut, Saif Ali Khan, and Shahid Kapoor play the pivotal roles. Despite having a stellar cast, the picture performed poorly at the box office.
Nikkhil Advani directed the 2015 romance comedy Katti Batti. The film starred actors such as Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut. This film ultimately fell short of its expectations.
I Love NY also known as I Love New Year
Kangana delivered a fantastic blockbuster with Tanu Weds Manu Return in 2015, but she also gave a romantic comedy I Love New Year, which starred Sunny Deol and Kangana in the same year. The film performed badly at the box office.
