Dheeran Review - The most commendable aspect of this Devadath Shaji-directed film is the way he wants to show viewers that the comical appeal of the heroes of the 1980s has not diminished in the slightest. With a simple plot, the movie will make you laugh for a while and bring back memories of Malayalam's heyday, when even the brief appearances of performers like Ashokan, Jagadish, and Sudheesh delighted the audience.

The news that Eldose died in a fire accident at his job in a Tamil Nadu village opens the movie. His family and the people of his hometown, where he was hailed as a hero before turning into a nuisance, have different feelings about this news. In order to perform the final rites, a group of his family members and the locals set out on bringing his remains to their homeland. However, because of their disastrous decisions along the way, it is not as simple as they once thought.

Dheeran undoubtedly brings to mind classic Siddique-Lal or Priyadarshan movies, which feature humour that emerges from a sequence of turmoil . The makers have concentrated on presenting humour in a natural way with the actors who are most suitable to this genre, without deliberately packing in too many "funny" situations.

With the filmmaker bringing out the compelling qualities of the unconventional heroes of various generations, the performances in this comedic drama are its strongest aspect. Even though Sudheesh, Ashokan, and Manoj K Jayan give us enough rib-tickling situations, Jagadish never fails to astound us with his fleetingly poignant moments. Shabareesh Varma, Rajesh Madhavan, and Abhiram Radhakrishnan should be commended for their ability to perform equally hilarious acts. The makers have also kept the viewers engaged by presenting Vineeth in a negative shade. They all make the audience laugh for a while by displaying their eccentries in a humorous way without coming off as absurd.

Devadath's choice for sticking with a female lead who is not lamenting over her fling's betrayal or untimely death is another impressive aspect. The music by Mujeeb Majeed complements the film's visually striking shots, which were taken by Harikrishnan Lohithadas. Even though the plot and climax are predictable, the level of fun in Dheeran remains strong.

Dheeran Verdict - In his remarkable directing debut, Devadath Shaji presents a lineup of unconventional heroes in an entertaining comedy-drama.
