Jack Review: Siddhu Jonnalagadda shines in this action comedy, which takes the audience for granted. Though a few jokes land in the first half, the rest of the proceedings are outdated.

Jack Story

Jack's (Siddhu Jonnalagadda) aim is to become a RAW agent and he even appears for an interview. He starts his mission of nabbing a few dreaded terrorists to get into the good books of the department. But a mishap changes things in such a way that the entire RAW agency is now at risk and is also facing a massive terror attack. To solve this crazy situation, Jack joins the team and helps them nab the terrorist. Well, how he did that is the basic story of the film.

Jack Review

Post the success of DJ Tillu, Siddhu Jonnalagadda is a massive star in the Telugu states. His comedy avatar is loved by the youth, and considering that, the director of Bommarillu, Bhaskar, has woven an action comedy that allows Siddhu to go the extra mile and prove himself as an action star.

Though the idea is good, the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Bommarillu Bhaskar has narrated the film in such a way that one gets a feeling as to why Jack was even passed through the scripting stages by the makers. Such is the audacity of the film.

The mix of comedy with the serious terror angle is good, but turns so silly after a while that one cannot go back. It is Siddhu Jonnalagadda who keeps things alive with his comedy. But the rest of the proceedings are tacky. The director establishes the hero's mission on a fun note, and the thrills showcased in the first half make some sense.

But the film goes downhill when the second half starts, and there is no respite from there on. The RAW heads are made to look like jokers, and things are so silly that a massive terror mission is being handled by a rookie while the experts are just assisting him. Such is the silly backdrop of the film.

Though the story is weak, there is some fun generated through Siddhu's character. But after a point, even he is helpless and does not have much to do in the silly setup. Vaishnavi Chaitanya plays the female lead and she is a miscast in the setup. Her track is so forced that one fails to understand what made the director add her in the first place. Siddhu, who has done hit romantic dramas like Krishna and His Leela, fails to ignite any chemistry with her in Jack.

Speaking of Krishna and His Leela, you can stream the film on Aha and OTTplay Premium.

Coming to the performances, Prakash Raj plays a key role and for the first time, he looks so lost in the setup. His character and acting are weak and do not bring any depth to the film. Vaishnavi tries hard to impress as Bhanumathi, but she looks out of place from scene one.

Naresh gets a few good scenes, but the entire focus is on Siddhu Jonnalagadda. He is a treat to watch on screen and carries Jack on his shoulders. Whenever he is on screen, things look interesting, but as the narration is so bland, he is also forced to bend to the atrocities.

The production values of Jack are not that great. For starters, the film looks like a very old film stuck in production. The music is not even worth mentioning here, as none of the songs register. The production design is bad and does not make any sense. The RAW agency and its setup are made to look silly throughout the film.

However, the dialogues mouthed by Siddhu Jonnalagadda are very good and evoke some fun even in tense situations. Bommarillu Bhaskar once again fails to deliver, as he has narrated the film in a very outdated manner. There is not a single episode where you feel the thrill. The national security threat is made to look like a joke, and sadly, Jack ends up as a big joke to the audience.

Jack Verdict

On the whole, Jack is a silly and outdated action drama that fails to deliver. Right from the taking to the logic, everything goes for a toss. Siddhu Jonnalagadda is one of the few shining stars of the film, but he too cannot salvage Jack, which goes out of hand after a while.
