Story: The rift between students of Siragugal Matriculation Higher Secondary School continues, despite all of them gearing up for the 25th anniversary celebration of the school. The school principal ropes in an intelligent teacher to teach Physics, hoping that his training would help the institution in different ways.
Review: The fourth set of episodes of Kanaa Kaanum Kaalangal is quite refreshing compared to the first three outings. The introduction of a new character and a deviation from a prime conflict which was common in the earlier episodes are major reasons for the same.
Though some of the situations still give a déjà vu feel, the overall experience the latest episodes have to offer is quite refreshing. The proceedings, too, have an organic flow when compared to the previous episodes.
The Rescuer
A helpless Kalai succeeds in proving his innocence with regard to the ornament theft of her classmate Swetha when Abi steps in. Her timely intervention and smart move help Kalai after which the new students appreciate her intelligence generously.
Quite surprised and annoyed with the sudden twists and turns, the principal issues a strict warning to everyone in the class and threatens to take severe action against those who indulge in such fraudulent practices. Meanwhile, he is also thinking of plans to spoil the reputation of the school by making use of the rift between the two groups of students.
Jerry's Arrival
Jerry (Irfan) makes a surprise entry into his old school after a span of 15 years. He returns as a Physics teacher after the school correspondent seeks his help to revive the school's image which is currently at stake. Upon knowing this, the disappointed principal and Chemistry teacher decide to come up with bigger plans to ensure that the school faces never-before-seen issues.
Abhi, who is enjoying all the appreciation from her new classmates, goes through a slew of horrific moments after he gets stalked by her senior. Though she badly wants to share her insecurities to Gautham, he is in no mood to forgive her for moving close with the new students.
The First Impression
Jerry tries to introduce a new model of education system to students by taking them out of the classroom. He insists them to talk to trees and plants on the campus premises and explains about the importance of embracing nature to lead a happy life.
While others have a whale of a time, revelling in the unusual style of education system, Abhi goes through a series of mixed emotions because of the horrific experiences she faced from her senior. What makes her more dejected is the inability to share her feelings to others.
The Missing Data
As part of the crooked plan executed by the principal and Chemistry teacher, the data of old school students goes missing mysteriously. When teachers become shell shocked over the news, students themselves take initiative in finding details of old students by contacting different faculty members of the school.
In an unexpected move, Jerry convinces both new students and old students to come together effortlessly. Though Malar finds it hard to believe it at first, she expresses happiness over the same and appreciates Jerry's smart move.
What stands out in this week's episodes is the enjoyable twists and turns which keep viewers hooked till the end. The natural performances of Irfan and Aravind complement the gripping flow of proceedings. There are ample moments which make us empathize with the latter's helplessness.
The makers seem to have come out of their comfort zone this time to ensure that viewers have a completely different experience in the new set of episodes. The conflicts become solid and easily relatable, thereby making viewers invest their time happily without any regrets.
Verdict: Unlike the previous set of episodes, this time, the makers have resorted to new conflicts and characters, making viewers completely hooked.
