The Serpent Queen

Based on Leonie Frieda's 2004 book Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France, The Serpent Queen is an American period drama television series about the life of Catherine de Medici, the 16th-century Queen of France. The plot follows the life of Catherine de Medici, who marries the French Valois court at the age of fourteen and is expected to bring in a fortune in dowry and produce heirs. Despite numerous obstacles, she manages to rule France as queen for 30 years thanks to her lifetime of clever political manoeuvring. Created by Justin Haythe, the show features performances from Samantha Morton, Amrita Acharia, Barry Atsma, Enzo Cilenti, Sennia Nanua, and Kiruna Stamell.
