In the 51st minute of the match, Thoi Singh extended Northeast United FC’s lead to 3-0 in Kolkata.
Parthiv Gogoi found Aladine Ajaraie in the middle, who made a good run, dribbling past the defenders, and found Thoi Singh with an inch-perfect cross from the left.
Thoi was waiting in the middle after Ajaraie’s cross went past goalkeeper Mirshad, and he just had to tap the ball inside the goal for the third goal of the night for John Abraham’s side.
Ajaraie, who is already leading the race for the Golden Boot, with seven goals in five games, has now marked himself in the race for the Golden Ball of the tournament as well after his assist.
Although the match started a bit slowly, with both teams not managing many shots on target, the game got faster with every minute passing. In the 30th minute, defender Asheer Akhter tapped in after a mistake from Mirshad.
Just before the first-half whistle, Parthiv Gogoi hit the back of the net with a shot from outside the box to give them a 2-0 lead.
