R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja both delivered remarkable 3-wicket hauls, while defending a revised score of 317 (due to rain), proving instrumental in India's triumphant 99-run victory over Australia in the second game of the three-match ODI series in Indore. With this win, India has secured the ODI series and will enter the 2023 ODI World Cup as the top-ranked team.

The 2nd innings began with Prasidh Krishna making an impactful start with the ball, quickly dismissing Matthew Short (9) and Steven Smith (0). Ashwin then entered the fray, claiming the pivotal wickets of Marnus Labuschagne (27), Josh Inglis (6), and David Warner (53). Ravindra Jadeja also played a significant role, dismissing Alex Carey (14) and Adam Zampa (5), while Cameron Green was run out for 19.

India seemed to be cruising to victory before encountering a robust challenge from Sean Abbott. The lower-order batsman scored a half-century, and a couple of misfields added to India's challenges. Mohammed Shami dismissed his partner Josh Hazlewood for 23, and Jadeja returned to claim the final wicket of Abbott (54) to secure the win.

Earlier, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, after choosing to bowl first, stand-in captain Steve Smith was unprepared for the explosive innings of Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill. Despite Ruturaj Gaikwad's early dismissal, Team India maintained their momentum as both the batters forged a formidable partnership, accumulating over 100 runs together. Both reached their respective tons but soon were dismissed.

Following their departures, Ishan Kishan contributed 31 runs before getting out, and KL Rahul (52) partnered with Suryakumar Yadav to further bolster India's innings. After the captain's dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav continued to exhibit his batting prowess, while Ravindra Jadeja (13) also made a valuable contribution to the team's impressive performance.

Suryakumar Yadav hammered four consecutive sixes off a single over by Cameron Green and reached his half-century in just 24 balls. Ultimately, Suryakumar Yadav finished with 72 runs off 37 balls, helping India set a record-breaking score of 399/5, the highest in the history of ODIs between these two teams.

An hour-long rain delay during the Australian innings resulted in the target being revised to 317 runs to chase in 33 overs.
