IPL 2024 - Devdutt Padikkal's poor form continues as he departs for 3; fans unhappy

After a promising innings in the final Test against England and an incredible domestic season, everyone expected Devdutt Padikkal's batting form to continue. However, it has been nothing less than a disaster as he departed for just 3 runs off 6 balls against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 26 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter has scored 3, 7, 6, 9, and 0 in this year's IPL, which is surely a cause for concern for his team as despite his failures, they continue to give him chances. Netizens have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to troll and discuss the young lad's performance with the bat. However, while fielding, he has contributed by taking clean catches.

As for the clash, in the Powerplay, LSG managed to score 57 runs. The side after 8 overs lost four wickets and scored just 67 runs at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium after opting to bat first. LSG skipper KL Rahul has posted 32 off 16 while he is joined by his new partner and impact sub-Deepak Hooda at the crease.

DC's Khaleel Ahmed took two wickets, first sending back opening batter Quinton de Kock for 19 off 13 balls and later Devdutt Padikkal. Later Kuldeep Yadav was introduced, who also took two wickets in one over. He sent back Marcus Stoinis who scored 8 off 10 and soon after LSG vice-captain Nicholas Pooran for a duck.
