After all the captaincy drama and issues, former Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma was looking in fine form as he went on to attack the Gujarat Titans (GT) bowlers in their season opener of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, Rohit's innings was brought to an end by Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore.

Amid all the cheers Rohit Sharma was getting even before the toss, he entered the crease with Ishan Kishan to chase a total of 169 runs. However, the 'Hitman' went on to lose his partner for a 4-ball duck. He formed a partnership with Naman Dhir who smashed 20 off 10 balls, but it was Dewald Brevis who allowed him to play free as the young lad also is seen smashing boundaries.

But Sai Kishore had other plans and there was a need to break the 77-run partnership. The bowler got the ball to skid past the under edge of the bat and it struck Rohit plumb. He looked sheepish as he took the review, but it went in GT's favour and he had to walk back for 43(29) after smashing 7 fours and 1 maximum.

Fans took to social media, especially X (formerly known as Twitter) to speak about the good knock played by the former MI skipper.

Earlier in the clash, amid all the boos, Hardik Pandya opted to bowl against his former team in Ahmedabad. Jasprit Bumrah ended with an incredible 4-0-14-3 on a good batting pitch.

GT openers Wriddhiman Saha (19) and new captain Shubman Gill (31) got off to a good start while Sai Sudharsan (45) became his side's highest scorer. The other batters, namely Azmatullah Omarzai (17), David Miller (12) and Rahul Tewatia (22) all played good cameos.

For MI, besides Bumrah, Gerald Coetzee picked two wickets while Piyush Chawla has one to his name.
