In Match 47 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made a strong start after being asked to field by the Delhi Capitals (DC) at Eden Gardens. While DC scored 68 runs in 7 overs, they also lost four key wickets. Prithvi Shaw, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Shai Hope and Abishek Porel all departed in quick succession, prompting jubilant roars from the Kolkata fans. Vaibhav Arora was the standout bowler, claiming two wickets, while Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana picked up one each.

In the 1.3rd over, Vaibhav Arora and the KKR fielders launched a loud appeal for a caught-behind. Wicketkeeper Philip Salt was convinced of an edge, prompting KKR to opt for a review. Shaw had already begun walking off even before the replays confirmed the dismissal. Arora delivered a full ball swinging in late, catching Shaw's faint tickle as he attempted to flick it away. Salt executed a fine catch diving to his left, with Shaw departing for 13(7) [4s-3].

Shortly after, Starc removed the dangerous-looking Fraser-McGurk. The DC batter showed disappointment as he found the fielder on the leg-side boundary. Attempting a whip shot, Fraser-McGurk dragged it off the inside half, and Venkatesh Iyer took a low catch at deep square leg. Fraser-McGurk departed for 12(7) [4s-1 6s-1].

Shai Hope, who came in after Fraser-McGurk's dismissal, did not stay long. He was bowled by Vaibhav Arora, marking KKR's third wicket as the crowd erupted in celebration. Shai Hope managed only 6(3) [6s-1].

The final wicket just fell as of writing this article. Harshit Rana made a mess of the stumps and gestured the batter toward the dressing room. It was a length ball angled in from around the wicket, and Porel walked across to scoop. However, he missed it completely and departed for 18(15) [4s-2 6s-1].

As of writing this article, the Powerplay has concluded, and after 6 overs, DC has scored 67 runs with the loss of three wickets. Skipper Rishabh Pant is at the crease alongside Abishek Porel.
