In Match 43 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI), a fan was injured by a maximum smash by Tim David at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In the 13.5th over, David walked across his stumps, got under the slower ball delivered by Khaleel Ahmed, and launched it over cow corner.

A spectator, identified as a DC fan, who unfortunately attempted to catch the ball was hit in the face instead. He appeared to be bleeding and was escorted out by a security guard for treatment. Fans shared photos of the same on X (formerly known as Twitter) about the incident.

As of writing this article, after 18 overs, MI has amassed 217 runs and lost 6 wickets while chasing 256 runs. Tim David just lost his wicket 37(17) to Mukesh Kumar. Tilak Varma is at the crease and has reached his half-century off 25 balls. 

Mumbai Indians need 41 runs in 12 balls to win this clash. For DC, Khaleel Ahmed and Rasikh Dar Salam have each picked two wickets, while Mukesh Kumar has one to his name.

Earlier, DC posted 257 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Jake Fraser-McGurk's explosive innings at the top order was remarkable as he scored 84 off 27 balls, while his partner scored 36 off 27. Shai Hope accelerated the scoring rate with a flurry of sixes before departing for 41 off 17. 

Towards the end, Tristan Stubbs played aggressively, scoring 48 runs off 25 balls, while Rishabh Pant scored 29 off 19. Regarding MI's bowling performance, Jasprit Bumrah stood out despite conceding 18 runs in his first over. Among others, Luke Wood, Piyush Chawla, and Mohammad Nabi also managed to take one wicket each.
