Match 28 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, held at Eden Gardens, saw the visiting side Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) don the state's famous football team 'Mohun Bagan' inspired colours - maroon and green - on their jerseys against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The jersey switch occurred because both teams, from the cricket and football fraternities, share the same principal owner, Indian billionaire Sanjiv Goenka. Soon after their photos went viral, fans quickly jumped the gun, with some making trolls, some appreciating and some even questioning it.

KKR vs LSG:

In the clash, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to field. Choosing to bowl first, they replaced Rinku Singh with pacer Harshit Rana as the impact sub.

Meanwhile, LSG made several changes, with Devdutt Padikkal and Naveen-ul-Haq missing out while Shamar Joseph, Deepak Hooda and Mohsin Khan making a return.

Additionally, they will be without their new pace sensation, Mayank Yadav. Addressing the pacer's fitness, LSG captain KL Rahul said, "He (Mayank Yadav) is feeling good, he looks good, but we don't want to rush him. We need to protect his body; he's itching to go. We need to make sure he's a hundred per cent fit before he comes back."

As of writing this article, after six overs, LSG has already lost two wickets in Quinton de Kock (10 off 8) and Deepak Hooda (8 off 10) within the Poweperplay. The visitors have posted 49 runs on the board. Skipper KL Rahul is at the crease, joined by Ayush Badoni.
