Not the score and the scoreline one was expecting, especially from a team like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when they faced Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 22 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The purple and gold team managed to score just 137 runs, losing 9 wickets in their 20 overs. The highest scorer for KKR was their captain, Shreyas Iyer, who scored just 34 off 32 balls.

Following him, Sunil Narine (27 off 20) was the other highest scorer, followed by Angkrish Raghuvanshi (24 off 18), Ramandeep Singh (13 off 12), Rinku Singh (9 off 14), Andre Russell (10 off 10), impact sub Anukul Roy (3* off 3), and Vaibhav Arora (1* off 1).

Philip Salt (0), Venkatesh Iyer (3 off 8), and Mitchell Starc (0 off 3) hardly contributed. Fans took to social media, particularly X (formerly known as Twitter), to speak about the low total and how the batters fell like a pack of cards with some asking if it was Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) who came to bat in KKR's place.

For CSK, Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets, sending back all KKR top-order set batters, while Tushar Deshpande also contributed with three as well. Mustafizur Rahman picked up two towards the end and even got the purple cap while Maheesh Theekshana also had one to his name.

This is surely something KKR did not want as they will have to try to get a good start with the ball if they want to win this clash at the CSK fortress - at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

On the points table, KKR sits comfortably in the 2nd spot with three wins from three games, while CSK occupies the 4th position with two wins and two losses.
