Match 38 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) was expected to witness the MI team seeking revenge for their previous loss and striving for victory in their second encounter. However, things didn't seem to be going in Mumbai's favour at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur as they lost their top three batsmen - Rohit Sharma (6 off 5), Ishan Kishan (0 off 3), Suryakumar Yadav (10 off 8), and Mohammad Nabi (23 off 17) - at regular intervals.

In 10 overs, MI had scored 72 runs but also lost four wickets, courtesy of Sandeep Sharma, who returned to the game after an injury and made a significant impact claiming two wickets. Trent Boult took one, and Yuzvendra Chahal also secured his 200th IPL wicket. Witnessing the loss of wickets, fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to inquire whether this was a 'repeat telecast' of their previous encounter, where RR bowlers had dominated the MI batters.

Yuzvendra Chahal became the first bowler in IPL to clinch 200 wickets.

50 wickets: RP Singh (12 Apr 2010)

100 wickets: Lasith Malinga (18 May 2013)

150 wickets: Lasith Malinga (6 May 2017)

200 wickets: Yuzvendra Chahal (22 Apr 2024)

At present, Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera are batting. The last encounter between these two teams took place at the beginning of April at the Wankhede Stadium, where the left-arm seam of Trent Boult and Nandre Burger, combined with Yuzvendra Chahal, posed a challenge that MI struggled to overcome.

That defeat had marked MI's third consecutive loss, but they have since bounced back, winning three out of four matches and aiming to continue their momentum.
