After a difficult 2024-25 season in which United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham, Amorim inherited a difficult situation upon replacing Erik ten Hag in November. Despite the setbacks, he is confident that careful attention to detail in daily routines and the club’s culture will contribute to improved performances on the pitch.

Improvements in 'every part'

Amorim explained that improvements in "every detail" of daily life, from nutrition, food preparation, and training sessions to overall player management, are already underway. He noted that having a more methodical structure and additional support staff frees him to focus more on coaching and game strategy. Specifically, altered team dinner habits symbolize this shift: instead of players eating quickly and leaving, they now stay longer to eat together, fostering better companionship and environment.

Amorim describes this as a subtle yet important change that, while not guaranteed to win games on its own, supports the collective effort needed for success.

What did Ruben Amorim say?

“I think are we better in every detail,” Amorim said to MUTV.

“The nutrition is better, the way we cook, what we eat, how we prepare training. I think that we are more organised. I think we have people now that help us to be better. I'm not concerned with small things, and I was last year.

“So, those things help us and help me to think more about watching the game, watching the team. So it's a big help for me.

“When it's a big help for the technical staff, it's a big help for the players.”

In essence, Ruben feels now that he can be more focused on coaching the team, rather than addressing bigger picture issues at the club.

“Then, I think the players are working really well and they understood that they need to give 100%,” Ruben added.

“They [the players] stay more. Before, they ate, and they left right away. Now, they wait for each other. They stay longer, and you can feel it in the noise. It’s getting better,” he replied when asked about the specific change he saw recently.

The manager highlighted that all players have bought into the new approach, understanding that they must give 100% effort; those who don't will find it hard to remain at the club.

United's addition of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo into the squad signals their intent to strengthen the squad as the team prepares for another season with the goal of climbing back up the league table. Moreover, they are going after strikers like Benjamin Sesko and Fermin Lopez, along with looking for a goalkeeper for the season.
