'Room se hi practice kar ke aya hain,' Ravindra Jadeja hails this RR batter's first-ball six during practice

A highlight of the training session was a humorous exchange between Ravindra Jadeja and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who, despite claiming to have had a restless night, hit a massive six off Jadeja's first ball.

The Rajasthan Royals’ practice sessions for IPL 2026 have officially begun. If the first few sessions are any indication, the fans of the 2008 title winners are in for an explosive season. While much of the talk leading up to the tournament centred on the high-profile trade that brought Ravindra Jadeja back to the Royals after 17 years, it was a light-hearted exchange between the veteran and young superstar Yashasvi Jaiswal that stole the show in the practice session.

What happened in the nets?

The incident occurred during the Royals’ first open net session in Jaipur. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has grown into one of the most feared openers in world cricket, walked out to face Ravindra Jadeja for the first ball of his training session.

Before taking his guard, Jaiswal reportedly cited to Ravindra Jadeja that he hadn't slept well the night before.

However, the "sleeplessness" seemed to have no impact on his timing and attacking mode.

On the very first ball he faced from Jadeja, Jaiswal launched a massive slog and cleared the fence with ease.

"Room se hi practice karke aaya hai yeh!"

Jadeja, known for his competitive nature and equally brilliant sense of humour, was left in stitches.

As the ball vanished into the stands, the 36-year-old turned to the coaching staff and teammates with a wide grin, joking in Hindi:

"Abhi keh raha hai neend nahi hui raat ko. Room se hi practice karke aaya hai yeh!" (He was just saying he didn't sleep at night. Clearly, he has come here after practising in his room!)

Jaiswal, who scored 559 runs last season despite the team's struggles, looks to be in peak physical and mental form. Alongside the 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Rajasthan Royals are set to field one of the most aggressive opening pairs in IPL history.
