The Eden Gardens pitch traditionally offers a balanced contest between bat and ball. Early on, pacers can extract movement with the new ball, especially under lights. As the match progresses, the surface settles, allowing stroke-makers to play freely. Spinners often come into play in the middle overs, with some grip and turn available. In white-ball cricket, high-scoring games are common due to the quick outfield, though chasing sides have enjoyed success here in recent matches.
Well, New Zealand have always edge past South Africa in the ICC events knockouts. Starting in 2011 to 2015 to 2025, the Kiwis have always played well in the tournament knockouts and this time too, they will look forward to do the same.
The last time they met in the Champions Trophy 2025 where New Zealand defeated South Africa in the semi-finals to qualify for the finals. Later, they were defeated by India. However, the Proteas have a balanced team this season and it will not be easy for the Kiwis to beat them.
