5. Chris Gayle’s 2011 Season (44 Sixes)
You are making a list of players with the most sixes in any form of cricket, and if you do not find the ‘Universe Boss’, it is a rarity.
Chris Gayle, the West Indian legend, is among the greatest T20 batters ever to play the format. His ability to land any bowler over the rope was insane.
In the 2011 season, while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Gayle scored 608 runs and hit 44 sixes in that season, which was a record at that time. Despite his explosive batting, RCB came second to CSK in the final.
4. Jos Buttler’s 2022 Season (45 Sixes)
2022 was one of the most impressive seasons by any wicket-keeper batter in the Indian Premier League’s history, with Jos Buttler scoring 863 runs.
The English keeper batter hit 45 sixes in that season, including hitting 4 centuries in a single season, a record he equalled with Virat Kohli.
Just like Gayle, Buttler’s Rajasthan Royals finished second to the Gujarat Titans and failed to clinch their second IPL title.

3. Chris Gayle’s 2013 Season (51 Sixes)
The Universe Boss appears in the list once again. The left-handed opener from the West Indies scored 708 runs in that season again and hit 51 sixes while doing that.
RCB failed to qualify for the knockouts, but Gayle’s domination with the bat sealed his spot as one of the greatest ever, even at a time when T20 cricket was just evolving.
You will be shocked to know that the second best on the sixes hitting list in 2013 was 29 sixes hit by Kieron Pollard. That is how Gayle was above and better than everyone during that period.

2. Andre Russell’s 2019 Season (52 Sixes)
West Indians are everywhere in this list. Andre Russell, famously known as the ‘Muscle Russell’ for his incredible power, hit 52 sixes in 2019 while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Russell, that season became only the second player ever to hit more than 50 sixes in an IPL sixes, making him enter an elite list of players. Russell went on to score 510 runs at a strike rate of 204.81, along with taking 11 wickets with the ball.
However, KKR failed to qualify for the knockouts that season.
1. Chris Gayle's 2012 Season (59 Sixes)
In 2012, Gayle broke his own record of 44 sixes and went on to become the player with the most sixes in a single season when he hit 59 sixes while playing for RCB.
Gayle went on to score 733 runs in that season with a strike rate of 160.74.
No one other than Gayle had hit more than 20 sixes in that season, which again made him the greatest six-hitter in IPL history. This was also the first time anyone had hit more than 50 sixes in a single season.
