The 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy has already provided fans with plenty of nostalgia, as Indian stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma returned to their domestic roots this week. While both legends lit up the tournament with centuries in their opening games, their paths have now diverged as the competition heads into the new year.

How to watch Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26?

Before we get to anything, here's how you can watch the Vijay Hazare Trophy online in India.

Cricket fans in India can watch the tournament live on JioHotstar, accessible via OTTPlay Premium.

Kohli scored 208 runs in two games

Virat Kohli’s return to the Delhi squad has been nothing short of spectacular. After a 15-year hiatus from the tournament, he began his campaign with a vintage century against Andhra on December 24.

He followed that up on Friday with a commanding 77 off 61 balls against Gujarat, helping Delhi secure a narrow seven-run victory.

Currently sitting on 208 runs from just two outings, Kohli was initially scheduled to play only these two matches before shifting his focus to international duties.

However, reports from Dainik Jagran suggest a change in plans. Kohli has reportedly left the team bubble in Bengaluru temporarily, but significantly, his playing kit and equipment remain with the Delhi squad.

This has fueled strong speculation that the "King" will return for one final domestic appearance. Delhi is scheduled to face Railways on January 6 at the Alur Cricket Ground.

If he plays, it would serve as his final competitive tune-up before India’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand, which kicks off on January 11.

Rohit’s VHT chapter is closed

On the other side of the bracket, Mumbai’s campaign will proceed without the "Hitman." Rohit Sharma’s stint in the tournament ended on a bittersweet note. He began with a destructive 155 off 94 balls against Sikkim in Jaipur, reminding everyone of his white-ball supremacy.

However, his second match against Uttarakhand ended in a golden duck, dismissed by Devendra Singh Bora.

According to The Indian Express, Rohit has since returned home and is not expected to rejoin the Mumbai squad.

With Mumbai preparing to face Chhattisgarh on December 29, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is likely to name a replacement shortly. Like Kohli, Rohit’s next competitive outing will now be in the blue of the national side against the Black Caps.

Kohli might play on January 6th against Railways

The presence of India’s two most iconic active batters has provided a massive boost to the profile of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. For Delhi, the addition of Kohli has breathed new life into a squad led by Rishabh Pant, who also looked in fine touch with a 70-run knock against Gujarat.

As the league stage continues through early January, the focus remains on the following key dates:

  • January 6: Delhi vs. Railways (Potential next match for Virat Kohli).
  • January 11: India vs. New Zealand, 1st ODI (International return for both stars).
  • January 18: Vijay Hazare Trophy Final.
  • While Rohit's domestic chapter for the season has closed, all eyes remain on the Delhi camp.

If Kohli does step out on January 6, it will offer fans one last chance to see him dominate the domestic circuit before the international calendar takes precedence.
