Australian bowler Mitchell Starc has expressed visible frustration over the Snicko incident that happened during the 3rd Test match against England. This is the second time in the 3rd third Test something related to the snicko has happened and left both teams frustrated. While England were batting on day two, Jamie Smith got a life-line as the third umpire gave not out during the 43rd over.
Pat Cummins went in to bowl a terrific short-pitch delivery where the ball went past Smith as he tried to hit it. While it was visible that the ball touched his bat and then went to the slip region where Usman Khawaja took the catch but the on-field umpire gave it not-out.
Then, Australia went in for the review but the TV umpire Chris Gaffaney could only find a mark on the helmet, and not on the gloves and asked the on-field umpire to stick to their original decision of not out.
When the decision showed up on the big screen, Mitchell Starc was extremely frustrated and was heard saying on stump mic, "Snicko needs to be sacked. That's the worst technology there is."
Well, the entire fiasco happened before on day one of the third Test when Alex Carey was batting and the ball had hit his bat and went to the keeper but the third umpire found no spot on the snicko and he was given not-out. He later revealed during the press conference that he had hit the bat but since the umpires didn't give it out, he chose to stay and bat longer.
When this happened, the Australian players remained silent and none of them were seen slamming the snicko. However, now that there has been some sort of 'karma' that has happened with the hosts, their aggression towards the technology has come out.
Meanwhile, snicko's owner did own up to the mistake made by the technology yesterday. This isn't the first time the controversy regarding the snicko has come up. Despite several instances, the ICC has remained silent and hasn't offered any alternative way out.
