After multiple speculations and rumours, the BCCI medical team has finally answered whether Rishabh Pant will be able to bat again in the ENG vs IND, 4th test in Manchester. Pant, who had sustained a serious foot injury on the first day of the test match, had retired hurt on 37 from just 48 balls.

How did Rishabh Pant get injured?

Rishabh Pant attempted a reverse sweep against English pacer Chris Woakes during the final session of Day 1. Pant completely missed the low full toss from Woakes, and the ball hit his right foot directly.

Although he was ruled Not Out by the umpire, he had to leave the field retired hurt.

The immediate images showed that Pant had a big cut on his foot, and it was bleeding. He looked in great pain and was carried off the ground on a buggy.

Will Pant bat again in the test match?

Earlier on Thursday, there were multiple reports that Pant has fractured his toes and has been advised to rest for the next six weeks, and Ishan Kishan will join the team for the fifth test. However, later in the day BCCI medical team stated that Rishabh Pant has joined the team despite the foot injury and will be able to bat 'as per the requirements of the team.'

The statement also revealed that, however, Pant will not be able to keep wickets, and just like in the Lord's test, Dhruv Jurel will be given the wicket-keeping responsibilities. During the Lord's test, Pant had injured his fingers while grabbing a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah.

Earlier on Day 2, India lost the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja . Jofra Archer dismissed him on 20.
