The upcoming ninth edition of the Women's Asia Cup 2024 will see eight teams - one more than the previous 2022 edition - divided into two groups and compete for the trophy. Commencing on July 19 in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, this tournament will also serve as preparation for the T20 World Cup, set to begin in Bangladesh in September.

Holding the title seven times, defending champions India are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, UAE, and Nepal. Meanwhile, host Sri Lanka is grouped with Bangladesh, Thailand, and Malaysia in Group B.
Group A: India, Pakistan, Nepal, UAE
Group B: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand
A highly anticipated clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is scheduled for July 21. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on July 26, with the final match slated for July 28.
India has featured in all eight finals of the Women's Asia Cup and secured victory in seven of them. They had experienced one defeat against Bangladesh in 2018. As for the other teams, Sri Lanka has been runners-up five times, while the Pakistan cricket team has reached the final twice.

In the previous edition held in Bangladesh, India dominated, restricting Sri Lanka to 65/9 in the final and securing victory with nine wickets to spare. India's Jemimah Rodrigues emerged as the highest run-scorer of the tournament.
