Nigel Akkara is back on the big screen with Arindam Sil’s Tirandaj Shabor. The film that also features Saswata Chatterjee and Subhrajit Dutta will hit the theatre on Friday. Nigel is making a comeback after Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Gotro that was released in 2019.

While talking exclusively to OTTPlay, the actor said, “I am very excited to be back. For two years and nine months, I did not have any releases as everything was stalled because of the pandemic. People have started going to theatres and I am glad that my film will be released now.”

Nigel plays the role of Sumit Ghoshal – a pivotal character in the fourth instalment of Goyenda Shabor film. This is the first time the actor worked with Arindam. “For every actor, there is a wishlist of directors. Arindamda is one such director on my list. He is a well-read man and his inputs added value to my character. He knows what he wants – what colour to use, what shot to take, what costume to wear, everything. These days, Bengali cinemas are made in hurry with a shoestring budget. Arindamda does not compromise with the quality. If he needs a broken fan to work, he will wait till it is fixed. This is a great quality I saw,” the actor told us.

Nigel was going through a lot of injuries during the shoot. “It was a gruelling time for me. I had bruises all over my body. My thyroid level shot us. It wasn’t easy for me to play the character. But everything went well finally. Now I am fit and looking forward to the release.” he told us.

Meanwhile, the director also was happy with the casting. “I needed a hunk for the character but I wanted to avoid a star. Nigel was our obvious choice. He has a diction that went very well with his character,” Arindam told us.
