OTTplay Awards 2022: It’s a big deal for me to receive an award in Mumbai amidst stars of various industries, says Priyadarshi

While Pelli Choopulu star Priyadarshi has been constantly referred to as a comedy actor till recent years, he made a conscious effort to diversify himself, starting with Mallesham, a biopic of the Padmashri award-winning weaver a few years ago. Since then, he has been constantly rediscovering himself as a performer with every outing and is hungry to prove himself as a complete actor, more so with the advent of OTT.

The actor shares it was indeed a big deal for him to come to Mumbai to receive the Emerging OTT star of the year award at the OTTplay Awards recently. He was given the award for his pathbreaking performances in two OTT shows - Loser 2 and Unheard, streaming on ZEE5 and Disney+ Hotstar respectively. Parambrata Chatterjee had presented him the honour at the award ceremony.

“It was great to forget barriers and become one with the best talents in the country at the OTTplay Awards 2022. I had a whale of a time catching up with them about their work, what goes behind it, their approach towards life. I was nervous because my Hindi wasn’t so good, coming to Mumbai. Receiving the honour was a big deal for me amidst a galaxy of stars,” he said.

“Getting this award has made me believe that my worth will be recognised if I am focused and surrender to my art selflessly. It was a humbling experience to be part of an illustrious gathering, celebrating quality content. OTTPlay awards gave artistes across the country an opportunity to understand each other better. This evening will have a special place in my heart,” the Oke Oka Jeevitham actor added.

While receiving his award, a nervous Priyadarshi stated that the moment truly felt like ‘Taare Zameen Par.’ He credited Internet as his Godfather and thanked all his writers for the award in addition to directors and producers. The Telugu people should know that if one truly believed in their abilties and work hard, they can genuinely make it big, he mentioned. “That’s why I am here today.”

His show Loser 2 was helmed by Abhilash Reddy while Unheard was directed by KV Aditya. Priyadarshi appeared in many popular films in 2022 including Radhe Shyam, Sita Ramam, Oke Oka Jeevitham.
