The Pet Detective star Sharaf U Dheen: 'Wished to be a part of Kunal Khemu's Madgaon Express'| Exclusive

Sharaf U Dheen in The Pet Detective

Malayalam actor Sharaf U Dheen is admired for his ability to handle any role that is given to him, particularly humour, which has helped him gain more popularity among Malayalis. The Pet Detective his most recent comedy film, is currently available for viewing on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium. In the meantime, the actor stated in an interview with OTTplay that he feels comfortable in comedic roles and that he would have loved to be a part of Kunal Khemu's directorial, Madgaon Express.

'Wanted to be a part of Madgaon Express'

The Padakkalm actor quickly mentioned the Hindi movie Madgaon Express when discussing the films he wished he had performed in. "When you watch some films as an artiste, you'll wish you could have been in them. He remarked, "If only I could have also been one of the main characters in Kumbalangi Nights." Sharaf U Dheen also mentioned that he was given a part in Thallumaala but was unable to work in it. He thought he could have done it after seeing the film later.

'Humour a comfortable genre for me'

Sharaf U Dheen continued by explaining that although comedy may not be an easy genre, he somehow feels comfortable with its approach, perhaps because he is generally an easygoing and light-hearted guy in real life. He stated, "I think it is not about constantly trying to make someone laugh because humour is subjective and can easily turn out to be a flop." The actor said that he personally finds dark and intense films difficult. "I'm not a method actor. It all boils down to what I learn from reading a script, and the director's input also help me with performances," he said.

'Pathrosinte Padappukal deserves a sequel'

The actor also explained why his character, Sony Pathrose, deserved a sequel to his another comedy film, Pathrosinte Padappukal. "Working in it was fun. Sharaf U Dheen remarked, "I only committed to it for Sony and I love to do such roles." He went on to say that because his role was only humorous and not serious, he was sure it would be favourably received by the audience. This movie is available to watch on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium.
