Jerry Seinfeld is all geared up to act in and direct the upcoming Netflix movie about the invention of pop tart. The project, titled Unfrosted, will also be co-produced by the stand-up comedian, as per a report in Variety. Seinfeld has been monumental in altering the sitcom genre with his long-running 90s show Seinfeld. Hence, the news of him helming a comedy movie has cheered fans all over.

The partnership between Seinfeld and Netflix goes back to 2017 when the streaming platform first picked up his interview series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Since then, the stand-up star has released a handful of his stand-up specials like 23 Hours to kill and Jerry Before Seinfeld with the streaming giant.

Unfrosted is co-written by Seinfeld with Spike Feresten and Barry Marder. The comedy movie is inspired by a joke that Seinfeld narrated in his stand-up comedy sets emphasizing the significance of the snack's creation on the world. The joke was also used in his last stand-up special 23 Hours to kill. Unfrosted was auctioned for several days with Netflix eventually coming up and securing a deal.

Netflix has also landed worldwide rights to Seinfeld's classic sitcom Seinfeld in a five-year deal worth $500 million. The sitcom is now set to make its way on the streaming platform later this year.
