Watch on OTT this week: 5 modern masterpieces on SonyLIV that will expand your empathy

As the title suggests, this movie tells the tale of a man called Otto . Based on the best international seller, A Man Called Ove, this movie stars Tom Hanks as the every-grumpy Otto Anderson. Otto is not the kind of person you would want to spend your free time with. At least that's the first impression we get. He's a stickler for rules and lives his life by a strict code. And that code is to keep all his neighbours in line with the rules of his gated community. And that makes him an outcast. Recently widowed, and forced to take an early retirement from work, Otto explores different ways to kill himself. However, life keeps getting in his way and keeps him from death. This movie is a charming film about Otto finding reasons to stay alive even when he's convinced he has got none. The movie explores themes of love, loss, grief, and the importance of human connection.

A Man Called Otto is streaming on Netflix.

What sets This desi take on the popular genre of drug cartel shows apart is that its women who are in charge. Led by an elderly woman named Savitri (played by Dimple Kapadia), a family of sassy and bold women run the crime cartel, showcasing the power and resilience of women in a male-dominated profession. The show promises a lot of dark humour and fun, and it has a stylish look. However, the question remains whether it will also have substance.
