After nearly a decade in the film industry, former Miss Supranational Srinidhi Shetty has only 4 films to show, including HIT 3 with Nani, which will be in theatres on May 1. She’d signed up for KGF in 2016, back when it was meant to be only one film and at a time when her co-star Yash was already a star. While it was a conscious decision to wait for the release of KGF: Chapter 1 before taking up anything else, subsequently, she worked on KGF: Chapter 2, Cobra with Chiyaan Vikram and is now counting down to her Telugu cinema debut with Nani’s HIT 3.

Srinidhi Shetty: Story matters, not co-star

Among her upcoming projects is a Kannada film with Kiccha Sudeep as well and she has admitted to have auditioned for Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayan, in which Yash is playing Ravana. Is Srinidhi’s single digit filmography because she is determined to only work with A-list actors? In Bengaluru to promote HIT 3, the actress was asked about this, given that she had given 6 years to the KGF franchise at the start of her career.

Srinidhi, though, says that the stature of her co-stars has never been the deciding factor for her to take up projects, stating that it has always been about the quality of the story. She cites her upcoming Telugu film Telusu Kada as example, which is being directed by a newbie, Neeraja Kona and stars Siddu Jonnalgadda in the lead. Telusu Kada was actually the first Telugu film she had signed and it was at the muhurtha that she met Nani for the first time. The offer for HIT 3, she says, came much later.

The actress adds that the reason she’s done so few films is because most of the stories that came to her did not interest her. As for her film with Sudeep to be produced by Satya Jyoti Films, Srinidhi says that it is currently on hold and that she too is waiting for word from the banner. She added that she is not on board Sudeep’s current film, Billa Ranga Baashaa.
