Aanand L Rai gives an update on Akshay Kumar’s Gorkha: The process is on as we speak

Akshay Kumar and Aanand L Rai have teamed up for a second time and have completed Raksha Bandhan. In October 2021, the two had announced that they would be working on a movie called Gorkha and the director has now given an update on the movie, which would become their third collaboration.

"Films are all about emotions. We are working on Gorkha and we will keep working on it till the time it is perfect to go on floors. Raksha Bandhan happened so quickly, but then there are some films which take time because of the way in which we want to make them," Rai told Pinkvilla.

The director also said that they only make films which they feel have the right subject and which they have cracked. Rai further added that they are finding the right script for the movie and this process is happening right now.

The director, who has helmed movies such as the Tanu Weds Manu Franchise, Ranjhanaa and Zero, last directed Atrangi Re starring Akshay Kumar, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan. The movie is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.

Gorkha is based on the life of Major General Ian Cardozo, a decorated officer of the Gorkha Regiment of the Indian Army. Having fought multiple wars, he also became the first war-disabled officer of the Indian Army to command a battalion and a brigade.

Raksha Bandhan, which also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb and Smrithi Srikanth in important roles, is set to hit theatres on August 11. The movie is about a loving brother who has to take care of his sisters. The comedy drama will also clash with Aamir Khan’s highly-awaited Laal Singh Chaddha at the box office.
