It was nothing short of a casting coup as Raj Chakrabarty-led team Abar Proloy gathered at a press conference on Friday at a city hotel. Paran Bandyopadhyay, Saswata Chatterjee, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Koushani Mukherjee, Saayoni Ghosh, Sohini Sengupta, Debashish Mondol, Loknath Dey, and many others, along with the crew members, attended the event.

Saswata Chatterjee, who plays police officer Animesh Dutta, took centre stage in full swag. “If Raj can make an Animesh Dutta out of me, he can do anything. He is a star maker. We have a serious deficiency of such a star maker in the Bengali industry. He could see out of the box. However, while executing his ideas, he really made us work very very hard,” said the ace actor.

This show is produced by Subhashree Ganguly. She expressed her happiness regarding the repose of the trailer. She said, “As of today, I always used to sign as an artiste. This time, I had to sign multiple contracts and the number of the people involved was so high that my hand started aching.”

Raj confessed that it was his dream project and he thanked the team. The director also released two songs – item numbers – from the series at the event. The numbers are choreographed by Baba Yadav and composed by Amit Chatterjee. “There will be people who will criticise me but I can assure you that there have been no such songs in the Bengali industry, let alone be the Bengali OTT,” Raj said.

Based on the human trafficking, Abar Proloy brings a sequel of supercop Animesh Dutta (Saswata) and will be dropped on Zee5 on August 11.
