Action Hero Biju 2: Nivin Pauly, Abrid Shine land in legal trouble, Mahaveeryar co-producer claims loss of Rs 1.90 crore

Action Hero Biju 2: A police case has been filed against Nivin Pauly, and Abrid Shine in connection with the rights over the upcoming film.

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly and filmmaker Abrid Shine seem to have landed in legal trouble. The Kerala Police have filed a case of cheating against the actor and the director in connection with the rights over the upcoming film, Action Hero Biju 2, Malayalam news channels have reported. The case, for allegedly defrauding the complainant of Rs 1.90 crore, has been registered under non-bailable charges.

Case against Nivin Pauly, Abrid Shrine

A police case has been filed against Nivin Pauly, and Abrid Shine, who were the actor and director of the 2015 Malayalam film Action Hero Biju, The Reporter news channel has said.

The FIR, under non-bailable charges, has been registered by the Thalayolaparambu police in Kottayam district of Kerala. The complainant is PS Shamnas, the co-producer of Mahaveeryar, which was also a collaboration of the popular actor-director. The case was filed after he alleged that he was cheated out of the rights for the film Action Hero Biju 2. As per the FIR, he was granted the rights for Action Hero Biju 2 for around Rs 1.95 crore, the news channel reported.

But later, the film's overseas distribution rights were given to another person for Rs 5 crore, without revealing this. Shamnas handed over Rs 2 crore in advance to Nivin Pauly's film production company, Pauly Jr Pictures, according to the FIR. And the complainant suffered a loss to the tune of Rs 1.90 crore, the FIR submitted.

On the other hand, Abrid Shrine told Asianet News that he does not know the details of the case but that he would cooperate with the investigation. He declined to make any public comment on the issue. Meanwhile, Nivin Pauly is yet to respond to the case.

The upcoming Malayalam film Action Hero Biju was announced in 2024, eight years after the first film. Abrid Shine returns as the director for the sequel. Action Hero Biju starred Nivin Pauly as a cop, and the many cases he dealt with at the police station on a daily basis. The character and the film became popular. Action Hero Biju is streaming on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium.

On the other hand, Nivin Pauly has several films in the pipeline. One of his upcoming films is Sarvam Maya the poster for which was released recently.
