Tharun Bhascker to direct a massive OTT project

Tarun Bhascker is one of the most talented new-age filmmakers in Telugu cinema. Known for his unique storytelling and realistic narratives, Tarun has also been balancing his career as an actor alongside direction. However, his recent film Om Shanti Shanti Shanthi, in which he played the lead, turned out to be a box-office disaster. The film is now set to stream soon on OTT Play Premium.

On the professional front, Tarun Bhascker is currently busy with his next directorial venture titled Gayapadda Simham, which features Faya Abdullah as the female lead. The trailer of the film was released recently and has received a positive response, with many appreciating its quirky humor and refreshing treatment. The film appears to be a fun-filled crime comedy with Tarun’s trademark flavor.

Interestingly, during the trailer launch event, Tarun Bhascker also confirmed that he has locked a massive OTT project. Tarun further revealed that he has signed a massive project with Amazon Prime Video, and it will be mounted on a grand scale. While Tarun chose not to reveal many details, sources say that Amazon Prime Video has approved the subject and is willing to invest heavily in the project.

Tarun Bhascker made his directorial debut with the superhit film Pelli Choopulu starring Vijay Deverakonda. He later directed Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi and Keedaa Cola, both of which found great appreciation, especially on OTT platforms. However, due to his increasing acting commitments, his directorial projects took a temporary backseat.

As of now, Tarun is shooting the sequel to Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi. Reports suggest that the upcoming Amazon project will be a hard-hitting, content-driven social drama with thriller elements. The shoot is expected to go on floors in the second half of 2026, though it is yet to be confirmed whether it will be a web film or a series.

Coming back to Gayapadda Simham, the film revolves around a man who claims to have lived in the US but is actually deported straight from the airport without ever entering the country.
