Adhik Ravichandran catches Mankatha re-release show; reveals details on AK 64, ‘this film will be for family, children’

Actor Ajith Kumar, who was last seen in Good Bad Ugly last year, will be pairing up once again with the film’s director Adhik Ravichandran for his next film. Tentatively titled AK 64, Adhik who caught a show of Mankatha re-release, gave away some details about the upcoming project.

What do we know about AK 64?

Ajith Kumar is currently involved in racing and been participating in international tournaments. The actor who is pursuing his passion for racing, has taken a break from acting. However, Ajith also a film in the pipeline, for which he will be reuniting with director Adhik Ravichandran.

On Friday, Adhik Ravichandran caught the first show of Mankatha re-release in theatres. The 2011 action drama starring Ajith, was a blockbuster success and been received with same fervour among fans. While speaking with the press, Adhik shared some details about AK 64. The director said that the film will go on floors from February, and will have a lot of ‘surprises’ that will be unveiled at later stages. “Good Bad Ugly was a film for fans. This film will be for family, children and will cater to everyone. It will be entertaining film and there are many fresh surprises,” the director added. It is to be noted that Ajith Kumar will be collaborating for the second time with Adhik after Good Bad Ugly.

How is Mankatha re-release faring?

Mankatha re-release has been met with good reception among fans. The re-release pre sales have crossed over Rs 2 crore, overtaking Vijay’s Ghilli re-release. The film is written and directed by Venkat Prabhu and features Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Andrea Jeremiah, Ashwin Kakumanu, Vaibhav Reddy, Premji Amaren, Mahat Raghavendra, Jayaprakash, Aravind Akash and Subbu Panchu.

Ajith, who had two releases in 2025, is currently engrossed in his racing stint abroad. The actor’s recent endorsement to a soft drink, has also raised eyebrows, given Ajith has seldom worked in advertisements.
