One year has passed since the highly-anticipated film, Adipurush, graced the silver screen in June 2023. However, it seems like the colossal failure of the fantasy drama continues to haunt the lead actors, including Prabhas and Kriti Sanon. The impact was brought to light by the 34-year-old actress recently, when she got candid about her feelings and revealed that felt “deep sadness” when the film underperformed.
Even though it's been a year, Kriti seems couldn't get over the fact of Adipurush’s failure. The film has earned over Rs. 390 crore at the box office worldwide. It was made on a budget of Rs. 500-700 crore. However, in a recent interview Kriti shared that it was never a plan to hurt anybody’s feelings. The intention is always to stay positive. “You feel a deep sadness and might even find yourself in tears, wondering what went wrong”, she shared.
As the conversation drew to a close, an upset Kriti offered a motivated reaction. She suggested that it's important to accept the reality that sometimes things don't click, and it's okay. According to her, failure is the greatest opportunity to learn and grow, and take hints from the mistakes.
The Bhediya-actress further talked about the critisism about the Adipurush, and properly distinguished the genuine feedback with frustrated comments. She also shared that how even in her family they all had several conversations on this topic over chai breaks. “My family gives me honest feedback on what they liked and didn’t like. I believe constructive criticism is beneficial. But it’s important not to let all types of criticism get to you too deeply”, she added.
Although like any other actors in the film industry, Kriti Sanon also had her fair share of failures, it has been quite a beautiful journey for her. It was really a proud moment for her when she won the prestigious National Award for her film, Mimi (2022), at such a young age. It's absolutely understandable how much Adipurush's failure affected her, as it's considered her biggest flop in her career. However, the determination of keep going no matter what happens helped her garner back-to-back two hits like Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and Crew within a span of a month this year. That's the spirit we must get inspired by.
Although we don't have any confirmation, as per rumours, Kriti Sanon will be next seen Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Hindi remake, where she will be portraying the role of Uma Thurman in the Anurag Kashyap-directorial.
Rumour also has Kannappa in the list, a Telugu historical drama, where Kriti might again collaborate with Prabhas. The film is slated to release in 2025.
