Adipurush, Tanhaji director Om Raut’s ambitious retelling of the Ramayana with motion picture technology, is two months away from its theatrical release. Made in a budget of over Rs 300 crore, the film, produced by T Series, Retrophiles and UV Creations, starring Prabhas, Sunny Singh, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan and Devdatta Nage was in the news for the wrong reasons in 2022 for its teaser.

However, after several corrective measures and reworking, the makers have kickstarted its promotions now with optimism. After the special poster featuring Ram, Laxman, Sita and Hanuman released for Sri Rama Navami, a new still from the film was out commemorating Hanuman Jayanthi today. In the poster, a rather muscular Hanuman, played by Devdatta Nage, is in a deep meditative state.

“Ram ke Bhakt aur Ramkatha ke praan…Jai Pavanputra Hanuman! #Adipurush #JaiShriRam #JaiBajrangBali #HanumanJanmotsav. #Adipurush releases globally IN THEATRES on June 16, 2023,” the makers wrote as they shared a poster of Hanuman. However, what has truly taken netizens by surprise the aptness of Devdatta Nage for the role - it looks as if he was tailor-made to play the part.

Arja Janardhana Rao, Vindu Dara Singh are among the popular actors who’re dear to Telugu audiences for their portrayal of Hanuman in films like Sampoorna Ramayanam, Ramanjaneya Yuddham and Sri Rama Rajyam, to name a few. Devdatta Nage’s appearance as Hanuman, certainly, is visualised differently in comparison to the popular Telugu mythologicals made in the recent decades.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair in association with Vamsi and Pramod, Adipurush releases on June 16 across five languages. Prabhas, this year, will also be seen in Prashanth Neel's action drama Salaar that hits screens in September. His sci-fi drama Project K will be out for Sankranthi 2024.
