8 Vasantalu locks OTT partner
8 Vasantalu is a romantic drama produced by the makers of Pushpa, Mythri Movie Makers. Despite scoring a big flop with his debut film, Mythri Movie Makers gave director Manindra Naari Shetty a chance to make his second film under their production.

The trailer caught the imagination of many, and the songs composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab became super hits before the release. During the promotions, the director spoke a lot about how critics slammed his first film. He also took digs at a few reviewers, which did not go well with many, and everybody was eager to see how this young director would narrate his second film.
Despite having a good cast, solid songs, and a great production house to support, Phanindra Narisetti disappointed the audience with his film 8 Vasantalu.
After the film flopped, the makers locked a lucrative OTT deal with Netflix. They planned to release the film at a perfect time and decided that 8 Vasantalu will be out on OTT on July 11, 2025. That means the film will be out on Netflix within a month of its theatrical release.
Well ahead of the release, let’s see how much the film collected at the box office.
8 Vasantalu was a low-budget film that did not have big stars, but as the pre-release buzz was high, good openings were expected. Sadly, due to bad talk from the first show itself, 8 Vasantalu flopped big time and made only ₹1.2 crore at the box office. The film was out of theatres in just a week as the occupancy was low and not many were interested in the film.
Ananthika Sanilkumar, who played the female lead, was the only solace, delivering a solid performance. 8 Vasantalu is about a young girl who falls in love twice and gets rejected both times. How she copes and finds love again is shown in the film. The visuals, songs, and performances were good, but the narrative was slow, which is the main reason the film didn’t work at the box office.
Speaking at a press interaction, the film's cameraman stated that 8 Vasantalu would look even better on the small screen, as the visuals, the mood, and the songs are perfect for the OTT audience. So now that the film is all set to release, we need to see how it is received by OTT viewers. Stay tuned for more.
