Now that it is official that the Ajith Kumar-starrer super hit Tamil film Billa is getting a re-release on May 1, it is time to revisit the prequel of the film, which is one of the earliest Tamil films to have a prequel. Titled Billa 2, it is set before the events of the 2007 hit film Billa, which starred the actor as a notorious and ruthless underworld don. The film is available to watch from the comfort of your home.
Where to watch Billa 2?
Billa 2 is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium. Even though Billa 2 (2012) was released much later than Billa, the former traces the life of the central character. The 104-minute film is about the titular gangster, David Billa, who works for a famous don in Goa. However, after a tussle erupts between them, Billa kills his boss and eventually has to manage the situation, paving the way for Billa to build his own empire in the process.
Like Billa, Billa 2 is also an action thriller. It is written and directed by Chakri Toleti. Billa 2 boasts a star ensemble, including actors Vidyut Jammwal, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Bruna Abdullah, Yog Japee, Rohit Khurana, Manoj K. Jayan, Sudhanshu Pandey, Dinesh Lamba, Krishna Kumar, Sricharan, Janaki Sabesh, Madhusudhan Rao and Rahman, among others. Billa 2 has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and RD Rajasekhar cranked the camera. Suresh URS edited the film. Billa 2 opened to mixed reviews but was hailed for its technical qualities.

Billa was made in Telugu under the same name, starring actors Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and others in prominent roles. The film is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium as well. Meher Ramesh helmed the film.

It is to be noted that Billa is a reboot of the 1980 film of the same name, which starred Rajinikanth in the lead role. The 1980 film is a remake of the 1978 film Don, starring Amitabh Bachchan.
