Dhurandhar: The Revenge is an action-spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar, featuring Ranveer Singh as a RAW agent, Jaskirat Singh Rangi (alias Hamza Ali Mazari), infiltrating Pakistan's Lyari underworld to dismantle an ISI nexus. The plot centres on high-stakes, violent, and tactical revenge against a criminal syndicate.
The film follows a long-form narrative split into chapters, focusing on the undercover operation of Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer Singh), who, under the alias Hamza, embeds himself in Karachi's dangerous underbelly.
Hamza aligns with local power structures to take down Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna), the kingpin controlling the area. The first part ends with the elimination of the primary target (Rehman) but sets up a confrontation with the mastermind, Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal), for the next chapter in the series, effectively making this a "revenge served cold" story.
This film explores a muscular, proactive "New India" (Naya Bharat) that crosses borders to eliminate threats, reflecting real-life security policies. It highlights the huge psychological and emotional impact it has on secret agents, who have to sacrifice their identity and humanity in order to succeed. The plot is fueled by the desire to avenge terror attacks, with the sequel explicitly titled The Revenge, focusing on punishing the masterminds.
