Ahead of Little Hearts’ release, Mouli opens up on missing the iconic 'Laddu' role in MAD series

Little Hearts is a low-budget Telugu film that is all set to hit the screens on September 5, 2025. Backed by ETV Win, the youthful romantic drama has Mouli of #90s fame and Shivani Nagaram of Ambajipeta Marriage Band as the main leads. Little Hearts was supposed to be a direct OTT release on ETV Win, but the makers, at the last minute, decided to have a theatrical release owing to the terrific response to the trailer.

Little Hearts is releasing alongside the likes of Anushka Shetty‘s Ghaati and Sivakarthikeyan‘s Madharaasi. Still, the makers are confident that their film will stand out as the content is fresh and will attract the youth, thanks to the main lead, Mouli's popularity.

On the other hand, Mauli revealed an interesting aspect ahead of the film’s release. Speaking in an interview, he said that he was the first choice to play the iconic character of Laddu in the superhit film MAD. “The director of MAD, Kalyan Shankar, approached me with the character of Laddu. At that time, I was dejected with the lack of film offers and had decided to focus on my career as a writer. So, keeping these things in mind, I rejected the role. Never did I imagine that the character of Laddu would become so iconic.”

Going back in time, MAD was a superhit film that made big money at the box office. Recently, its sequel, MAD 2, was also released and ended as a big hit. The character of Laddu was played by Vishnu Oi, and the film’s success gave him a new lease of life in his career. The film highlights the character of Laddu in both parts and is a crowd-pleaser.

Speaking about the same, Mauli says that he has no regrets as he has found enough work, and whenever the time is right, his turn will come to hog the limelight. Little Hearts is a youthful romantic drama that has college-based moments, showcasing how a young student who fails in his exams goes through various struggles and achieves his goal. All this is presented hilariously.

Rajeevv Kanakala plays the hero’s father in this film, which has been produced on a low budget. The makers are very confident, and they are holding special previews a day in advance.
