Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 returns to shoot two new songs; details inside
Raid 2 adds two new songs: a club track by Honey Singh and a romantic ballad with Ajay Devgn and Vaani Kapoor. Inspired by the 1981 Kanpur IT raid, the film hits theatres on May 1, 2025.

The filming of Raid 2 was completed in May 2024, starring Ajay Devgn and director Raj Kumar Gupta. However, as per the latest reports, it appears that the unit will return to the shooting ground.
New songs
Mid-day has discovered that the producers have chosen to record two songs—a love ballad and a club number—for the May 1 theatre-releasing flick starring Devgn, Vaani Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh. The sequel to Raid (2018) will have the lead actor playing Amay Patnaik, a senior income tax officer, again.

The makers will film the dancing number next week. Producers still haven't decided on an actor to star in it.
Purpose of the club song in the film
Production duo Bhushan Kumar and Kumar Mangat opted to include the song in the final edit, according to an insider. To them, it would make the scene before it more meaningful. The character played by Devgn is on the prowl for someone in a bar where the number takes place. The song was composed by Honey Singh.
The makers plan to shoot the second track, featuring Kapoor and Devgn, during the third week of April.
Inspiration for Raid
Meanwhile, talking about Raid, the film takes its inspiration from an alleged historical record for the longest-running income tax raid. In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on July 16, 1981, IT officers searched the home of Sardar Inder Singh, a businessman, Congress MLA, and ex-Rajya Sabha member. It was a peaceful start to the morning of July 16. No one paid heed when Alok Kumar Batabyal, the deputy director (intelligence) in charge of the first day's raids, and a number of other officers departed from their residence in Swaroop Nagar. They retrieved ₹16 million (about $180,000) in gold and cash that had been undeclared. Reports indicate that the 18-hour operation required 45 individuals to count the notes.
