Akhanda 2 OTT deal: Makers of Balakrishna's next demand a whopping Rs 100 crore?

Nandamuri Balakrishna, who has hit iconic mass hits like Rowdy Inspector is on top of his game with back-to-back hits in his career. His last film, Daaku Maharaaj, ended as a huge success and took his market to the next level. He is now back with yet another biggie, and this time, things have escalated even further as he has teamed up with his favorite, Boyapati Sreenu, for the fourth time. The film is none other than Akhanda 2, the sequel to the super hit Akhanda.

The shooting of the film is nearing completion. 14 Reels Plus is the production house, and they have now shocked everyone with their demands. One of the sources close to the unit has revealed to us that Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have shown interest in acquiring the digital rights to the film and have even offered a fancy price. However, the makers surprised them by quoting close to Rs 100 crore for the OTT rights.

Going back in time, Balakrishna's films used to be a rage only in theaters, while the response on digital platforms was lukewarm. But things changed ever since Balakrishna hosted the OTT show Unstoppable with NBK which was a massive hit on Aha. His last film, Daaku Maharaaj, was also a smash hit on Netflix and clocked over 200 million streaming minutes in no time.

Akhanda 2 is a hot cake in trade circles

Seeing this shift, the makers of Akhanda 2 have demanded big bucks. The source further adds that both platforms have quoted a revised price, and very soon, 14 Reels will take a final call and close the OTT deal for Akhanda 2. As the film is being made on a budget of Rs 100 crore, the makers want to recover most of its through the post-theatrical rights.

On the other hand, the Pattabhishekam actor, Balakrishna, will be seen in a double role in this film, which also features Pragya Jaiswal as the female lead. In the past, Boyapati Sreenu has given Balakrishna big hits in the form of Legend, Simha, and Akhanda.

So, everyone is eager to see what he has in store for us this time. The news is also that Sanjay Dutt will be seen in a key role in this film. Akhanda 2 is a hot cake in trade circles, and the OTT rights deal itself is proof of how eagerly the film is being awaited all over.
