On January 30, 2026, Prime Video announced Don’t Be Shy, an upcoming original movie written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji. Produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under the banner of Eternal Sunshine Productions and co-produced by Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani, the film follows the life of Shyamili ‘Shy’ Das, a 20-year-old who believes she has found life, until an unexpected turn changes everything.

What is Don't Be Shy about?

Don't Be Shy is a coming-of-age romantic comedy centred on Shyamili "Shy" Das, a 20-year-old whose carefully planned life becomes chaotic after an unforeseen event. Although the story is centred around Shyamili, details about the specific actors for the characters have not yet been widely revealed. The announcement video shows four people holding boards with names: Dhruv, Shy, Tara, and Mayank.

The video also shows Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt working on the script and saying the film has romance, heartbreak, songs, boys, girls, and also a turtle, building anticipation.

According to her, 'Don't Be Shy' immediately spoke to them because of its sincerity and coming-of-age lens, and Sreeti’s passion and energy naturally fed into the spirit of the story.
