Alohomora – The True Emperor, the third song from Challenging Star Darshan Thoogudeepa’s upcoming release, The Devil, dropped on November 16, more than a month after the romantic track Onde Ondu Sala came out. Alohomora, it turns out, is the song that includes the background music associated with all things The Devil. And since it was a lyrical video with only fleeting glimpses from the actual video, the focus was on the composition, the lyrics and, of course, the vocals.

Darshan fans don't want Anirudha Sastry to write lyrics for the actor again

If the comments on singer-lyricist Aniruddha Sastry’s timeline are anything to go by, it seems that Darshan fans are not really pleased with his work, especially the lyrics of the song. Comments ranged from, “Yo aden antha lyrics baritiyo”, to “Bruuh don't write lyrics again bro pls it's our request”, “Guru ninu song baribeda pa innmel”, “Request pa nam boss movie ge lyrics baribeda” and “enondu sari boss ge baribeda lyrics”, and more. The gist of it being that they don’t want Aniruddha Sastry associating with Darshan again.

Some fans were also not thrilled by Ajaneesh Loknath’s composition, but by and large, this time, he seems to have escaped their ire. “Darshans films albums once used to be soothing now such a horrendous lyrics loud music,” said one fan, while a few others noted that in search of gold (Ajaneesh), they lost out on a diamond (V Harikrishna). Aniruddha was the primary target of Alohomora. For what it’s worth, Darshan’s styling and swag in the song was on point, which the actor’s fans lapped up.

The Devil, directed by Prakash Veer, whose last film was Tarak with Darshan, will release on December 12, in the actor’s absence. Darshan is currently in jail in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, the trial of which is ongoing and unlikely to finish before the film’s release. The actor’s wife Vijayalakshmi is handling his social media handles in the interim, while Prakash’s wife Thashwini is spearheading the promotions of their home production.

A. Darshan was arrested on June 11, 2024 in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case. 35-year-old Renukaswamy was tortured to death for allegedly sending lewd messages to Darshan's alleged partner of many years, Pavitra Gowda and at his behest, the former was brought to Bengaluru, where he was beaten up and later succumbed to his injuries. Pavitra is accused number 1, while Darshan is accused number 2.

Q. When was Darshan given bail?

A. Darshan was granted interim medical bail in late November claiming he needed surgical intervention for a bad back issue. He was then granted regular bail by the High Court in mid-December, the circumstances of which have been questioned by the Supreme Court, which, on August 14, 2025, 8 months later, cancelled his bail.
